Combi Screw Barrel | Integrated Feeding & Venting Barrel
Integrated barrel combining feeding and venting functions for compact and flexible configurations.
Combi screw barrels integrate multiple process functions—such as feeding, devolatilization and pressure control—into a single barrel section, enabling more compact and efficient extrusion layouts.
By combining venting and conveying within a confined space, they promote continuous melt surface renewal, enhancing devolatilization efficiency even under limited installation length.
The internal pressure profile is carefully managed to maintain stable partial-fill conditions, effectively preventing material carry-over and minimizing the risk of melt leakage at venting zones.
In addition, the integrated design reduces thermal losses and mechanical transitions between barrel segments, contributing to improved process efficiency and energy utilization.
Combi screw barrels can also be configured with integrated vacuum systems, allowing optimized sealing, shorter vapor paths and more stable degassing performance compared to conventional separated layouts.
